I am out of warranty on this product so am hesitant to call HP. But I am still having just a blinking blue light.
I tried with another drive (the 1 Tb drive) to do a factory reset to install the OS and hopefully get this thing to boot once more. I also tried to do a factory reset of the drive and the same thing happens.
The soft recovery completes and installs the HP software but when it comes to installing the connector software the server can't be found to finish the install and the lights on the server have gone back to blinking blue on the health light for about 10 seconds followed by the light blinking blue/red alternating for 5 seconds, then back to blue blinking. I did this with no firewalls what-so-ever. I ran the recovery DVD with just the OS hard drive plugged in by following the instructions on the softward. I unplugged the ethernet from the back of the server which was hooked up to the router and instead plugged in an ethernet cable from the back of the server to my laptop. I backed up all of the data from all three drives to another external drive I have. When this happens, security alerts pop up on the computer screen. Check that lowest USB port on back of server has boot source. See Replacing the system drive on page 6-16. Sometimes these programs are blocked by a firewall. If the light-bar for the system drive (the lowest light-bar) is also red, you need to replace the system hard drive. I pulled out all of the drives one by one, hooked them into a USB eSATA dock and ran CHKDSK on them showing nothing wrong on any of them. The HP MediaSmart Server comes with software applications that must communicate over the network. The power light was on and so was the network (both solid blue) but the health indicator light was blinking blue. I went and took a look at the server and say that none of the 4 hard drive lights were on anymore. What happened about a month ago was the server was not able to be found on my network. I have always been able to find it on the network just fine.
